Have two presentations I'm preparing for they are really not stressful projects:
1. Thursday- a condensed version of Grotowski's (genius director)work from a ritual studies perspective (3-4 min)

2. Friday- a 5-7 min look at an analysis of William Shakespeare's Sonnet #8

Looked at more Phd/MFA programs which is one of the reasons I've been posting so much ;)

Weather up here: Foggy with a brief sun break

I've been walking to school, feels really good to be outdoors and, actually, the walk is intense uphill at times... I should look like a superstar in no time LOL

Fatal Harvest

Currently Reading: Fatal Harvest: The Tragedy of Industrial Agriculture

At a moment of solitude, wondering why our world is turned upside down by people who do not know the meaning of the word 'enough'. For them no amount is enough. Until our world is decimated and our children mutilated, will they stop even then? How much does it take? How much is it worth? Some people say save our earth, what we are really saying is save the people! The Earth will renew itself when we are vanquished by our own hands. What are your stocks worth when there is no one spending money?

Is it alright that our food has no nutrients, chemicals galore, and has been genetically modified, unless it says organic (even some organics are being tainted)? Is it alright that thousands upon thousands of gallon drums filled with radioactive waste are dumped off of Mare Island? Is it alright that our water is unsafe to drink because of polluted runoff? The list goes on...

What have we done! What are we going to do about it? Become informed. Begin, if you haven't already, to ask the tough questions- Demand your right to a high quality life! More than quantity should be yearned for...

Mental illness of Troops

http://www.wsws.org/articles/2003/sep2003/wia-s09.shtml

This really needs to be discussed by everyone... why are we so damned uninformed and/or misinformed?

"If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention."

Paycuts for troops on front line

And even the troops aren't getting paid:

I had talked about this and here it is... the proof...

Spirit

I have been a good student, studying Ritual & Shakespeare... I have been a good person, been politically active, called my mamma, and helped my friends...

I AM SPIRIT see me, I Illuminate...

Illuminating hearts & Illuminating minds, FireDaisy at your service ;)

Quotes for the Autumnal Equinox:

"We must discover new frontiers... People have been standing for centuries before a worm-eaten door, making pinholes in it with increasing ease. The time has come to kick it down, for it is only on the other side that everything begins." -Raoul Vaneigem

"Your reality is lies and balderdash and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever." -Baron Von Munchausen

My sentiments exactly- Believe what you choose, it has no effect on truth... there is always one perception then another... into infinity with perceptions- distorted views on the truth... and... in the end (the beginning)... is truth...

simple really: "the only constant is change" or "the only certainty is uncertainy"

Who is in control? YOU ARE. WAKE UP. TAKE YOUR POWER.

(If you think I am yelling at myself, I AM)

And now for something completely different...

Okay, I went off... topics I had to address, I condensed them. And one comment before you dive in, please read them with the notion that these are works in progress and merely questions to get us all thinking. They do contain facts within them but of themselves, as a whole, they are to get us thinking and asking the tough questions... Enjoy!

-Republican versus Democrat? I think not.-

They (those in Washington D.C.) are playing two sides against the middle. Democrats have to, in order to achieve any gain at all, create a pretext of caring about social issues while systematically eliminating them. Republicans (the new GOP is what I am referring to) have the luxury of not caring and they achieve the most. Usually this is about making money for themselves and their friends rather than helping the country and the American people (this is not what I remember the republican party being about, it sure didn't care about "foreigners" but it took care of Americans-at least that's what they said).

For example, I switched to C- Span about a year to see one of our senators arguing the point. He was discussing the appropriations (of money) and asked "could we please appropriate the funding of our veterans? We have appropriated 56 million for Iraq, how about some money for our veterans?"

Now it struck me that we are giving all of this money to Iraq when our people are in record numbers becoming poverty stricken, especially our veterans. Then further it hit me that this money (our money) wasn't going to Iraqi people it was going to American international corporations. The CEO's in Washington swindled us out of our tax dollars. While our services our cut and our people are dying. More recently they cut funding for combat pay (not positive of these details, I heard this from friends in the military, as I am a military brat). We seem to be coming to a divide and it isn't Republican V Democrat...it is Haves V Have nots

-Patriot Act II? Vampires? Freedom? Oh My!-

www.infowars.com nicely written about Patriot Act II.

Patriot Act II- the end of freedom in America- hey they've been stuggling to get it done for years.. now they have just dressed it up, put it in a nice little package... the trick is we have to accept it.

Yes, folks, just like the myth of Vampires: they can only hurt you if you LET THEM IN. This is the real life scenario that the myth is trying to warn us against- manipulation and allowing someone (thing?) to control us and manipulate us to suck the very life out of us...

Don't think this is happening, huh? Heck, I wish it wasn't!

I feel like Paul Revere here, but there's no plan of action and no one is waking up! I've been riding all night and the army's almost to our door and only three of you have had coffee, haven't even gotten dressed...

Sad state of affairs when all signs point to treasonous conspiracy and no one even thinks it could be a possibility. Won't EVEN hear evidence, solid evidence, that SOMETHING is happening.

Okay, lets say this is all nonsense it's not like the underground media is saying. They are all just doing the best they can and these little societies they are a part of, well, they're nothing but old ceremonies, and the media being suppressed, well, it's not "suppressed" *chuckles*... Then, why are these innocent "powers that be" trying to deny the existence of the societies by saying these people- who are just investigating what's going on- are crazy? Why did we not hear about the protesters civil liberty being violated and don't hear about 75% of information that is pretty important to the American people in a DEMOCRACY?

It is NOT crazy to question authority it is what are country was founded on... Boston Tea Party anyone?...Bill of Rights?

Both protests....against authority...

This is OUR country let us preserve it

-Corporate Propaganda Vs Our Freedom-
WE are being pushed certain ways by Corporate PROPAGANDA. Yes, I know, even what I'm writing can be considered propaganda. But what I'm really referring to is the construct that has been created by the corporate propaganda, the LIE, if you will, that was told that now has a life of it's own and has become the reality that we all believe. That it has to be this way because it has ALWAYS been this way. When in reality nothing has ever really been one way- this is an ever changing universe.

For example, why are we not using bio-fuel instead of fighting for oil? Because people are making billions off of oil and bio-fuel you can practically grow in your backyard.

Our soil would be boosted and our farmers saved. We would be free of middle east control and environmental degradation. Why is the middle east dictating our policy anyway?! Because they are. They hold the keys to the oil flow so they have power. It makes no sense until you realize we have an oil Barron in the power seat. Any other leader would have immediately began opening up all research labs to get us alternative fuels today! Not twenty years from now! It would have been a national race rather than an underground movement.

A good leader would have rushed out the door when he heard a plane crashed into the world trade center, though, as well. So, I guess... who cares? Nobody seems to really...

ARE WE ALL REALLY THAT AFRAID?

Our ancestors came to this country to flee from tyranny not create it...

What have WE done?

Quote:

"It is perfectly possible for a man to be out of prison, and yet not free -
to be under no physical constraint and yet to be a psychological captive,
compelled to think, feel and act as the representatives of the national
state, or of some private interest within the nation, wants him to think,
feel and act.

The nature of psychological compulsion is such that those who act under
constraint remain under the impression that they are acting on their own
initiative. The victim of mind-manipulation does not know that he is a
victim. To him the walls of his prison are invisible, and he believes
himself to be free. That he is not free is apparent only to other people.
His servitude is strictly objective."

Appalled

You know, I heard how "dramatic" LJ can get, but to see it is another thing entirely... curiosity killed the cat, so I just had to go to the religious debate that CW began innocently... not knowing the fury of hell she would unleash... Which everything was cool until one of the parties in question decided to hash unsubstantiated rumors about someone they didn't even know!... on their personal journal! Grow up people, geez! If you want to bash someone bash a politician they most likely deserve it- at least for something, and chances are you can find the "something". Bashing people you don't know, especially only by rumor, is just lame: 1) you don't know if it's true 2) It's not your place to chastise if you don't know them 3) you WROTE IT which means everyone is reading it, so if it is indeed false, you look like a complete moron for having bashed this person 4) Bashing on LJ is just loathsome and base... In other words this person has the integrity of a sock puppet... open debate, one thing- bashing is unintelligent... 'nough said.

Game on!

Loving Life...

Well, it was an interesting happening to go from watching "Under the Tuscan Sun" to reading my friend wildfyregirl's entry. She left her ex-boyfriend and a life in Sonoma to go teach in Turkey.
So much can happen and if you haven't seen that movie- if you can get it, you should see it... In the immortal words of Lennon "Life is what happens when you're busy making plans...". I grew emotionally recently... strange for many reasons...I realized, though, while looking back at my life, I have learned much and experienced Bliss throughout most of it. Despite heartbreak, loss, emotional hell, all the trauma the Human Condition puts one through... Bottom line: I live it and I LOVE IT... yes, it could be better (can't everything?), yet, everything has brought me here and it is wonderful...

Current Projects:
MA-Production Management- HSU
Musical Director- Willy Wonka- Fernadale Repertory
Shamanism- this is always a constant project...

Screaming Yellow Zonkers

Name a food that's really unhealthy, but that you can happily eat by the fistful/spoonful.

Screaming Yellow Zonkers (if you've never had them DON'T they are heroin in a popcorn costume, and probably just as "deadly, yet, oddly euphoric...")

What is a question you'd like me to ask others next week? What is a question you dare me to ask others next week?

Have you ever eaten a Screaming Yellow Zonker? Would you eat a Screaming Yellow Zonker?

Do you chew bubble gum? What brand/flavor is your favorite?

one word: braces. However, I love gum! brand: carefree Flavor: real peppermint.

Bagels, or donuts?

Bagels... just cuz *smirk*

Think, Think, Think...

So, I am enraptured with thoughts... and, no, I cannot capture them here as I have composed too many emails this evening and it has zapped my innate ability to articulate clearly in words without great mental effort on my part. Brain hurting must flee from the computer!
My Shakespeare book is feeling lonely anyway... it needs some loving :)

My classes up in the land of the green and gold:

Approaches to shakespeare

Theatre As Ritual-Ritual As Theatre

More soon! Cross my heart! *wink* xoxo

Behind the mask of preconceived notions...

The writer within emerges... free from captivity of the ever active social butterfly actor...I'm back, did you miss me?

SO... it has been about a year, I have been using xanga mostly because it is easier, prettier, all of the words ending in "arrrr!" Ah well, all things must come to an end "Alas, poor xanga I knew you well..." you (the friends, romans, countrypeeps) are all over here, so I suppose I will begrudgingly be assimilated- dammit! Assimulation bites!

I digress... *Kicking and screaming my way back to Live Journal* What have I been doing for a year? well some of you have received evites so you have the scoop, some of you aren't in my email folder for some weird reason and you didn't get any... hmmm... let me know, we'll fix it ;)

To read some of the inner struggles and personal slant on reality- check out my xanga site: www.xanga.com look for 'FireDaisy' or use this link

http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=FireDaisy

I would say it has some of my best writing and more recently a great essay by my writer friend on women's voting rights (made me enraged, sad and shamed- sparking a rebuttal to my remarks about voting I had posted earlier on xanga), so you should check it out...

I'm up to trouble in the good ol' Humboldt County which is way up in Northern Cali for those of you not 'in the know'. Greener pastures to say the least. Beautiful country! I am finishing my MA in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Production Management. I have four months, three papers, and two classes left to complete this project. Theatre as Ritual and Approaches to Shakespeare- these are my classes. Both are intriguing and really allow for my personal development not only as a student but as a theatre artist, as well.

That's all for now... Computer on too long... brain fuzzzyy
